Outreach Day 1

Today marks the beginning of the Cuernavaca Outreach for this year's DTS. This a.m. we participated in Noche Buena with Ministerios de Amor, a series of orphanages around Mexico. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I'll let the picture speak for themselves. We finish packing tonight and set sale for Valle de Bravo tomorrow at 4am.

Stateside Again

This weekend had us up in the good ole U.S.A. McAllen, TX to be exact. Gabriel, my 5 year old has been standing closer and closer to the TV and his school work over the last couple weeks. So we headed up to take him to an eye doctor. We found a great one and it turns out, Gabe is almost as near-sighted as I am. The only problem with that is that as he grows, supposedly it will get worse, and he's 5 and I'm 41, so he has a bit of growing to do. So, we're concerned and praying for him that his vision won't get worse.

It was fun to get some shopping done and eat some good ole American food, Texas BBQ style for a change.

Hearing God's Voice

At the heart of our DTS Curriculum, Hearing God's Voice is a personal favorite of mine. It always amazes and humbles me to reflect on the fact that God wants to have a close personal relationship with me. Miguel Inzunza is our teacher this week. He has some funny stories and anecdotes. He first served with YWAM on the Mercy Ships and is a believer familiar with picking up and carrying his own cross!

Part of his teaching was a great overview of the whole Bible. In addition he covered the following 3 points:
1) Who God is?
2) What He is like?
3) Who am I to Him according to Scripture

What a great week!

And the Race Begins

DTS started today! All the students have arrived and are getting situated. After dinner we had a time of Worship and a short message re: keeping our eyes on Jesus. Discipleship Training School (DTS) is like running a marathon. It takes a lot of endurance and stamina to make it the full 5 months. The students are fired up (as are all DTS classes on day 1) and eager to start learning and growing.

Back at Mount Sinai

Mount Sinai Evangelical Mission was our ministry site this afternoon. This is the place a wrote about a week or so ago when I referred to how appearant the spiritual warfare is by all the graffitti on the front of the church. This pix were taken during dramas and puppet ministry.

Balloon Ministry...

...Is always a hit with the children. Today we were back at the same place as yesterday for another open-air service, balloons and soccer, and prayer time at the end.

Open-Air Service

Gearing up for another open-air service in a neighborhood we haven't worked in before. Today's setting is the local park and we'll be performing at the soccer court. There were a lot of children at this service and there was a family that really touched my heart when we went door-to-door. It was a granmother, grandfather and their 8 or 9 grandchildren (from a couple different families). It was really neat seeing how close these children felt to their grandparents. I picked up that the parents work every day and so I'm sure they are with them daily. They were very receptive to our visit, graciously received a Bible and began reading it before we left. Students from Abiding Savior Church (South Dakota) perform a drama.
