God is Big!

First of all, I'm extatic that there is a short-term missions team here in Monterrey from River Valley Church (RVC - check 'em out online at www.rivervalley.org). That is our home church and it is awesome having a team from the Beyond (young adults) ministry in Mexico with us. It has been a great week so far.

Tonight, after a long day of construction laying a new floor at Pastor Roman's church, we went to the trauma hospital for hospital ministry. We usually bring food and juice for people waiting for loved ones. There was a very drunk homeless man who was there looking for food. After we did the hospital ministry, which was amazing, a couple people from the team began praying for this man. We were getting ready to leave, but some felt a need to stick around and continue praying. That's when things got interesting. Someone asked me what he was saying, assuming the man was speaking in Spanish. I couldn't make out one word he was saying, but we began praying. After several minutes, one of the team members really had a heart for this man and probably a glimpse of God's heart for him. He began praying for him fervently and we all continued praying. After several minutes, the man collapsed. I was checking to make sure his chest was going up and down (it was).

We continued to pray over this man and pray out whatever God wanted us to pray for him. After several more minutes, he began coming to. We helped him up and he began speaking to us and we could understand everything he was saying. It was as if God took away his drunkeness and revealed himself to this man while he was passed out. All I know, the man couldn't talk, after he woke up, he was talking just fine. It was incredible. He was talking about things that have happened in his life, but he also kept stating, "God is big. God is big!"

Amen
