The Real World
Today we spent the day at a place called, "Mundo De Adeveras," which translated means, "The Real World." It is like the real world meets amusement parks. It consists of about 6 blocks of little stores that range from a hospital to a firestation, grocery store, Volkswagen dealership, Home Depot, etc.
You start out by paying for parking and admission to the park. The parking is reasonable and the admission is as well. Then, upon entering Mundo De Adeveras (which I will refer to as MDA), the fun begins. You have to first go to the bank (named after a large bank chain located here in Mexico) and fill out some paperwork and go up to the teller to obtain your devis card, which is like an ATM card.
Then you go to different stores around the town and do different activities, for example, in the grocery store, you shop, but you also practice checking people out. In the radio station you get interviewed as part of a radio program (and you also learn how radio works). At each location you accumulate points on your card that you can cash in at the end of the day for various things. They actually have a Boeing 727 airplane that you can go inside the cockpit, watch a movie and do a flight simulator. At the VW Dealership, you get to drive miniature battery powered cars (where Gabriel almost ran me over, not intentionally). There is a Televisa TV Station where the children actually put on a short TV show. Dominoes Pizza for lunch and plenty of icecream, popcorn and soft drinks. We haven't had a weekend outing like that in a long time and the children really enjoyed it.
